Screw pump: operating principle and application
It is the optimal option for pumping liquids in straight flow. The equipment is adapted to convey a wide range of liquids with or without solids. The screw pumps for the food industry move draughts or low-viscosity liquids without mixing the particles with the base medium or crushing them. The design allows reversible operation, depending on the direction in which the motor rotates. The working elements are a screw pair with internal meshing. The movable element rotor performs planetary motion. The stator pitch is twice the rotor pitch. The rotation of the screw enlarges the cavity on the suction side and creates a vacuum, which is filled with the transported medium. The subsequent motion of the screw transports the cut-off volumes of fluid/mass in the discharge direction. The volume of this cavity determines the capacity of the mechanism.
